Dr. Poulicos PRASTACOS

Dr. Poulicos Prastacos is Director of Research at the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH) in Herakleion, Greece. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Transportation Systems from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana (1981). His areas of expertise include geoinformatics (GIS, databases, spatial methods) and spatial decision support systems. In the past he was adjunct associate professor at Stanford University, California and Senior Regional Planner at the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) in Oakland, USA in charge of the design and development of forecasting models for the San Francisco Bay Area. He has collaborated with many organizations in Europe and the USA on the development of environmental and statistical databases, design of transportation and economic forecasting models, linking models with GIS databases and implementing methods for impact assessment. Dr. Prastacos has published more than thirty scientific papers in the areas of forecasting mathematical models, integration of GIS tools in decision support and environmental information systems.
