The theme of this year's decennial anniversary edition of PRO-VE, which has come to be recognised as a premier scientific event and dissemination forum in the field of Collaborative Networks, was "Leveraging Knowledge for Innovation in Collaborative Networks". The three-day conference was attended by over 120 academics and researchers from universities, research organisations and companies from around the world.

The presenters at PRO-VE'09 covered a wide range of timely topics relating to Collaborative Networks and Virtual Enterprises, including innovation networks, networks of the future, Internet of things and services, social networks and communities of the future, cognitive networks, and health in collaborative networks. The conference program featured a keynote speech by Prof. Wil van der Aalst (Eindhoven University of Technology, Netherlands), and two invited talks by Dr. Stylianos Hatzipanagos (King's College, UK) and Dr. Theologos Athanaselis (Institute of Language and Speech Processing, Greece).
