The workshop spreads over two days. Day 1 hosts two sessions: a) Risk from Child Abuse and Neglect within SE Europe: Different Perspectives and Common Themes b) The impact of parenting issues on the family’s ability to meet the needs of children. Day 2 tackles the topics of a) Risk in the Community b) Poverty and Welfare Reforms; additionally there is a special section on next steps and necessary actions. Invited speakers include academics, child specialists and NGO representatives from across Europe and from South East Europe in particular.

The workshop aims include:

To clarify the notion of a child at risk in SE Europe
To bring together existing knowledge about the cause and effect of risk to children in the region
To identify research topics in light of the above
To establish a network of experts in the region able to raise awareness and build expertise on the topic.
