The work of researchers in SEERC's Information & Knowledge Management research group is under the spotlight of an industrial case study report published by WSO2 - a global leader in the area of enterprise middleware software.

The case study examines how members of SEERC's IKM group developed a registry & repository system to support governance and quality control in a next-generation cloud computing platform. The work was carried out in the context of the recently completed EU-funded research project CAST.

The objective of the CAST project was to develop a cloud application platform that enables advanced forms of enterprise software co-development between the provider of a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offering and an ecosystem of third-party Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) developers.

"As a leading center of applied research in Europe, SEERC recognized early on the critical role of governance in implementing an effective cloud platform for SaaS delivery" said Paul Fremantle, co-founder and CTO of WSO2.

The registry & repository system that SEERC researchers created, based on open source software developed by WSO2, resides at the centre of the CAST platform. Its purpose is to assist the provider of the cloud platform in maintaining integrity and reliability as the platform is continuously being extended by the developers' ecosystem.
