On Friday, February 26, the Director of SEERC Mr. Zaharis coordinated a roundtable on ICT Industry and Agrifood Sector in Greece within the frameworks of Project Fractals, invited by the Association of IT Industries of Northern Greece. The participants of the round table were in alphabetic order: DrAthanasios Giamoustaris Director of the Educational Farm at American Farm School, Mr. Kagkelidis Konstantinos, Chairman of the Association of IT Industries in Northern Greece Board, Dr. Panagiotis Madesis, Researcher in The Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH), Institute of Applied Biosciences (Former Institute of Agrobiotechnology, INA), Dr Dimitrios Moschou, Associate Professor at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Head of Agricultural Engineering Lab, Mr. Grigoris Chatzikostas, coordinator of Project Fractals.

FRACTALS is one of the Sixteen Accelerators (A16) financed under the Seventh Framework Program that contributes to the goals of the Future Internet Public-Private Partnership, in particular FI-PPP Phase 3, by facilitating the promotion and early adoption of FIWARE Technologies. The main idea and purpose of FRACTALS is to support the community of innovative ICT SMEs and web-entrepreneurs to develop FIWARE based applications with high market potential, addressing the needs of the agrifood sector. The project foresees support, which spreads on different levels, and focuses not only to the assistance during the life of sub-projects, but aims also to ensure their sustainability in the long run.
