SEERC Research Clusters initiate activities that lead to funded projects that tackle issues of importance at a regional, European and international level with a particular focus on South East Europe. These research clusters explore their specific research questions through lenses that may be disciplinary, multidisciplinary or interdisciplinary. SEERC’s location in Greece, an EU member state, positions it well to serve as a regional hub for researchers and institutions from the various countries of South East Europe in order to carry out research that is genuinely transnational. This planning has resulted in a number of funded projects from the European Commission (FP6), from foundations, international organisations as well as from the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office:
- ELEVATE: Integrating pedagogically-documented, value-added e-training add ons in commercial software products of European Software SMEs (funded by FP7, Research for the Benefit of SMEs programme).
- ORGANIK: An organic knowledge management system for small European knowledge-intensive companies (funded by FP7, Research for the Benefit of SMEs programme).
- WBC-INCO.NET: Western Balkan Countries International Cooperation Net (funded by the FP7 Capacities Programme)
- e-SDI NET+: European Network on Geographic Information Enrichment and Reuse (funded by the DG Information Society and Media, eContentplus Programme)
- Cultural Cooperation and Mobility of Young Adults, a project funded by the DG Education and Culture, Youth in Action Programme
- J-WEB: Collaboration environment for Judicial European network in Western Balkans (FP6-IST).
- Multi-level Governance in South East Europe – Institutional Innovation and adaptation in Croatia, Greece, FYROM and Slovenia, funded by the Economics and Social Research Council (a project funded by the British Economic and Social Research Council).
- QF Embodiment: The exchange of experiences during the creation and testing of sectorial qualification frameworks and their drawing near to each other, in the light of EQF (a project funded by the Leonardo Da Vinci Programme, DG Education and Training).
- FUSION: Business Process FUSION based on Semantically-enabled Service-Oriented Business Applications (FP6-IST), Project Flyer
- SWIM: Development of an Intelligent System for the Management of Semantic Web Services (Greek R&D General Secretariat, PENED2003)
- MIRIAD: Managing and Infusing Research Investment and Development (FP6-Regions of Knowledge)
- “Infusing Knowledge into South East European SMEs: Establishing a Platform for Developing Business Alliances, Supply Chains and SME-Research Community Interaction” (a project funded by the British and Foreign Commonwealth Office).
- EPOS: e-Procurement Optimised System for the Healthcare Marketplace (eTen)
- Embedding ICT/Multimedia Standardisation Initiatives into European Vocational Training Development Strategies, funded by the Leonardo Da Vinci Programme, DG Education and Training.
- Regional Correspondent of the Socio-economic Survey programme of the International Labour Office for Albania, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus Kosovo, FYROM, Romania, Serbia and Slovenia. (2004).
- Ambient Learning: Ambient, multimodal and context-sensitive lifelong learning (FP6- eTen)
