This volume consists of papers presented at the 8th Workshop on Membrane Computing (WMC8) which was organised by SEERC and held at CITY College in Thessaloniki, Greece, from June 25 to June 28, 2007, under the auspices of the European Molecular Computing Consortium (EMCC). The workshop focused on both "theory" and "practice"; to mathematical and theoretical computer science topics as well as to applications and implementations. The workshop featured 32 full presentations and 5 invited talks by Luca Bianco (University of Verona, Italy), Pierluigi Frisco (University of Edinburgh, UK), Alberto Leporati (University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy), Andrea Maggiolo-Schettini (University of Pisa, Italy), and Gheorghe Stefan (Connex, USA).
