English in Europe Conference, 23-24 November 2013
Added on 10/07/2013

The English in Europe project aims to examine the role of English in different contexts of today’s Europe by hosting five conferences in different parts of Europe (Sheffield, Zaragoza, Copenhagen, Thessaloniki and Prague). SEERC is proud to be the lead organizer of the fourth conference in Thessaloniki on 23-24 November, 2013.

The aim of the fourth conference in the ‘English in Europe’ series is to gain a comparative understanding of the debates surrounding the role of English as a lingua franca in the South-East Europe and Balkan region and to explore in what ways ELF functions and is visible within these geographical locations.

We are extremely proud to confirm the following keynote speakers:

Professor Cem Alptekin (Boğaziçi University)

Professor Barbara Seidlhofer (University of Vienna)

Dr Nicos Sifakis (Hellenic Open University)

The English in Europe project is sponsored by the Leverhulme Trust in the UK and directed by Professor Andrew Linn (University of Sheffield). For further information on the English in Europe project visit our website at http://www.englishineurope.postgrad.shef.ac.uk/.
