South-East European Research Centre (SEERC)

It is a great pleasure for us, the University of Sheffield International Faculty, CITY College, together with the South East European Research Centre (SEERC) to host the 10th International Conference for Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Regional Development (ICEIRD-2017) on 31st August – 1st September 2017 in Thessaloniki, Greece. Over the past 10 years ICEIRD has become one of the leading entrepreneurship, innovation and regional development conferences in Europe, attracting academics and practitioners from around the world. A central theme of ICEIRD over the past decade had been the importance of attributed to universities, industry and government, and how to promote innovation-led growth.

SEERC and CITY College were represented at the XIV Triple Helix Association (THA) Conference in Heidelberg, Germany (during 25-27 September 2016) by Prof Panayiotis Ketikidis and Dr Adrian Solomon who presented a paper (A Quintuple Helix Framework for the Implementation of Low Carbon Supply Chains under Innovative Theoretical Convergence), organized and moderated a session on EU Funding Opportunities and participated in the General Assembly of the THA by reporting of the progress of the THA Chapter of Greece.

SEERC and CITY College representatives attended, moderated and delivered presentations at the 9th International Conference for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Regional Development (23-24 June 2016, Bucharest, Romania)

SEERC was present at the University of Sheffield's Conference for Research & Innovation Supporters on the 14th of June 2016 in order to share our best practices.

During 1-3 June 2016 SEERC Chairman, Prof Panayiotis Ketikidis and PhD Candidate Mr Besart Hajrizi participated at the prestigious annual UIIN Conference (University Industry Interaction Network) which brings more than 400 participants at their event towards sharing cutting-edge practices related to university-industry cooperation.

The International Faculty of the University of Sheffield, CITY College and the South-East European Research Centre in cooperation with Konrad Adenauer Stiftung and the Navarino Network successfully organized the Symposium: European Migrant Crisis: Challenges of a fragmented corridor on 31st of March, 2016. On Friday, February 26, the Director of SEERC, Mr. Zaharis coordinated a roundtable on ICT Industry and Agrifood Sector in Greece within the framework of Project Fractals, invited by the Association of IT Industries of Northern Greece.

SEERC becomes partner of World Bank's Global Forum for Law, Justice and Development and looks forward to working with it on innovative legal solutions to development challenges.

Once again we prove our mission and impact in South East Europe ! SEERC Received the Best Think-Tank in South East Europe Award for building entrepreneurs and supporting startups at the World Business Angels Investment Forum (21-23 February, 2016, Istanbul, Turkey). From a variety of highly reputed names, we are pleased to have received this award that will motivate us to pursue even further our mission !
