SEERC invites applications for one postdoctoral researcher position in the frame of the FP7 Marie Curie Initial Training Network RELATE (Trans-European Research Training Network on Engineering and Provisioning of Service Based Cloud Applications).

The 4th newsletter of the INNOPOLIS project is now available. This issue is dedicated to the INNOPOLIS study visit organised in Prague in October 2011, include an interesting article on how to design policy practices for knowledge exchange and presents two examples of best policy practices from Helsinki and Central Macedonia.

SEERC receives funding for three new research projects: "SILVER", funded by the Life-Long-Learning Grundtvig Program, "English in Europe: Opportunity or Threat?", funded by The Leverhulme Trust, and "SEE-SCIENCE", funded by the SEE transnational cooperation Program.

The University of Sheffield has been named UK University of the Year, in the 2011 Times Higher Education Awards. The judges found it to be a quality, research-led university, and a community with values, confidence, flair and its sleeves rolled-up.

Prof. Panayiotis Ketikidis, Chairman of SEERC Management Committee, was an invited speaker at the Annual Partnering Event of Europe INNOVA, an initiative aspiring to become Europe's laboratory for the development, testing and promotion of new tools and instruments in support of innovation. The event was held in Berlin, and was hosted by the Fraunhofer Centre for Central and Eastern Europe.

The 5th International Conference for Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Regional Development (ICEIRD 2012) is taking place on 1-2 of June 2012, in Sofia, Bulgaria. The conference provides a forum for researchers,practitioners and educators to present and discuss 
the most recent innovations, trends, experiences and issues in the field of entrepreneurship and innovations.

CITY College, the International Faculty of the University of Sheffield, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of the Republic of Kosovo (under UNSC 1244) announced a call for 3 scholarships for PhD studies at SEERC. The evaluation process has been completed. The successful applicants are Ms Krenare Pireva, Ms Teuta Danuza and Mr Armend Bekaj.

This issue deals with the study visit and best policy practice seminar organised in Manchester, presents the knowledge transfer which takes place in Innospace, a Manchester Metropolitan University incubator and demonstrates some interesting findings from a set of interviews held in Central Macedonia(GR)

In the frame of the Research Students Seminar Series at SEERC, we are pleased to announce a seminar to be delivered by Mr Dimitris Kourtesis, PhD candidate, on the topic:"Towards an ontology-driven governance framework for cloud application platforms". The seminar is scheduled to take place in L.Sofou building, 14/7/2011 at 13:30.

In the frame of the first phase of the INNOPOLIS project, 10 successful knowledge exchange practices between universities & enterprises have been identified from the project’s participating regions: Manchester (UK), Helsinki (FI), Lodz (PL) and Central Macedonia (GR). The consortium focused on the multimedia presentation of those practices, which are now available online.

In the frame of the Research Students Seminar Series at SEERC, we are pleased to announce a seminar to be delivered by Mr Sofoklis Vogiazas, PhD candidate, on the topic:"Macroeconomic credit risk modelling: an empirical investigation of the Romanian and Bulgarian banking systems with reference to the Greek crisis". The seminar is scheduled to take place in L.Sofou building, 12/7/2011 at 13:00.

In the frame of the Research Students Seminar Series at SEERC, we are pleased to announce a seminar to be delivered by Mr Fivos Papamalis PhD candidate, on the topic:“An integrative approach to drug treatment evaluation: Client level factors as indicators of treatment engagement”. The seminar is scheduled to take place at SEERC Conf. room building on Monday 27th June, 2011 at 11:30.

ICT-WEB-PROMS was a 2-year project aimed at increasing the capacity of stakeholders in the Western Balkan countries (WBC) to fully participate in European ICT research and in the European Research Area by creating and supporting strategic partnerships between stakeholders in the EU and the WBC while providing access to relevant knowledge.

SEERC, in cooperation with the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Exporters' Association of Northern Greece, and the Federation of Industries of Northern Greece, are pleased to announce a talk to be delivered on Thursday, 2 June 2011, by Rodney Schwartz (CEO, ClearlySo) on the topic of "Social Enterprise and Investment: A trend, a fad or an entirely new politico-economic system?"
