Ms Markidou holds a BA in Business Studies (Finance and Accounting) and an MSc in Banking and Finance from the University of Sheffield. Her MSc dissertation was entitled "Mergers and Acquisitions in the Greek banking industry: Analysis of the consequences".
She is currently a PhD candidate at the Department of Economics of the University of Sheffield, conducting research on "Fiscal and Monetary Policy for EMU preparation for selective South East European countries based on the case of Greece". She is also a tutor in the Business Administration and Economics Department of CITY College, International Faculty of the University of Sheffield.
