Dr Jose Maria Alvarez Rodriguez

Research Fellow

Dr. Jose María Alvarez Rodríguez holds a PhD in Computer Science (e -procurement and linked data) from the University of Oviedo in Spain, as well as Master and Bachelor Degrees in Computer Science from the same university. In June 2008 he was awarded the "Best Final Degree Project in Computer Science" by the Association of Computer Engineers of Asturias (Spain) for his project "Activation of concepts in ontologies through the Spreading Activation Technique".

From 2005 to 2010 he worked in the semantic technologies area at the R&D Department of CTIC Foundation in Spain, in projects related to semantic web services, rule based systems, cloud computing, search systems, and linked data. He has participated in more than 15 research projects in different competitive programmes, with special focus on the ONTORULE-FP7 project. From 2008 to 2012 he held a position as part-time Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Oviedo. He also worked within the WESO Research Group (University of Oviedo).

He has more than 30 publications of research works in main international venues and impact factor Journals in which he also acts as reviewer and guest editor (e.g. Journal of Computers in Industry). Last summer, he was also awarded a HPC2-Europe transnational Access Programme grant at SARA (The Netherlands). At the moment he works as a Marie Curie Research Fellow (Experienced Researcher) at SEERC within the RELATE-ITN FP7 project researching "Quality Management in Service-based Systems and Cloud Applications".
